Delta May Be Trying To Sell Off Its Regionals

Comair And ASA Could Go To SkyWest

Delta Airlines is reportedly in discussions with SkyWest about selling off its Comair and Atlantic Southeast Airlines regional subsidiaries.

The Wall Street Journal quotes SkyWest's chief financial officer, Bradford Rich as saying Delta had expressed "more than just an interest" in such a deal.

SkyWest operates regional flights from Delta's Salt Lake City, UT, hub.

Rich told the Journal his company could shave as much as five-percent of the operating costs from both Comair and ASA, but didn't say what level of interest his company had in the discussions. He characterized the talks as being in the very early stages.

So far, there's been no comment from Delta.
