NTSB Prelim: Beech A35

During The Emergency Landing, The Airplane Collided With Power Lines

Location: Waco, GA Accident Number: ERA22LA146
Date & Time: March 6, 2022, 10:15 Local Registration: N764B
Aircraft: Beech A35 Injuries: 2 None
Flight Conducted Under: Part 91: General aviation - Personal

On March 6, 2022, about 1015 eastern standard time, a Beech A35, N764B, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Waco, Georgia. The commercial pilot and passenger were not injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight.

The pilot reported that he was on a short cross-country flight when the engine began to lose power. He observed that the fuel pressure dropped to zero and attempted to regain power by hand-pumping the auxiliary fuel pump. He was unable to regain power and contacted air traffic control to request radar vectors to the nearest airport. As the airplane continued to lose altitude, the pilot conducted an emergency landing on a road. During the emergency landing, the airplane collided with power lines before coming to a stop on the road. After landing, the pilot exited the airplane and discovered a leaking fuel line within the engine compartment. Examination of the wreckage by a Federal Aviation Administration inspector revealed structural damage to the vertical stabilizers and fuselage.

The wreckage was recovered for further examination.
