Flight Data Systems Selects Sentry CVR

Canadian CVR Mandates Create Demand for Cockpit Voice Recorders

Flight Data Systems has announced the selection of the Canada West Avionics Sentry cockpit voice recorder to comply with 2023 Canadian CVR mandates.

The Sentry CVR is a TSO-compliant piece with 2-hour, 4-track datalink message recording, rotor speed inputs, and a 10-minute independent power supply. The Sentry's small, compact footprint and low power consumption allows Canadian operators an all-in-one solution to meet Part 23, 25, or 27 Canadian STC. The set includes a Sentry CVR, controller, and cockpit area microphone for simple installation, allowing operators to meet SWaP requirements and certification standards for advanced air mobility from Part 25 to 29

“We selected Flight Data Systems’ SENTRY Cockpit Voice Recorder over other solutions due to its remarkable size, weight, and power considerations,” mentions Gordon Bott, President of Canada West Avionics. “Furthermore, the streamlined installation process and available Canadian Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) will ensure that operators can quickly gain compliance ahead of the May 2023 implementation deadline.”

“We are very excited with Canada West Avionics’ decision to select the SENTRY for the upcoming 2023 Canadian CVR mandates,” said Shane LaPlante, Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Flight Data Systems. “We believe the SENTRY is the best choice for operators looking for reliable, functional, and easy-to-install solutions for their fleets.”
