NOTAM For Saturday Shuttle Landing

NO Formation Allowed...  

An FAA NOTAM has been issued prohibiting flights in the vicinity of Kennedy Space Center, Fla., starting at 5:47 a.m. EST Saturday, Feb. 1, anticipating the approach and landing of the space shuttle Columbia. The notice activates the usual restricted and warning areas before the proposed landing time of 9:16 a.m. EST.

The NOTAM encompasses a 30-nm arc centered at KSC and includes restricted areas R2932, R2933, R2934 and portions of warning areas W497A, W158A and W158C. Flight operations within this airspace are prohibited from the surface to unlimited and will remain in effect until the landing site is secured. Pilots are advised to contact St. Petersburg Flight Service Station prior to operating in the vicinity of this airspace.

ST PETERSBURG FL. /PIE/ IS THE COORDINATING FLIGHT SERVICE STATION AND SHOULD BE CONTACTED FOR THE CURRENT STATUS OF ANY AIRSPACE ASSOCIATED WITH THE SPACE SHUTTLE OPERATIONS. THIS AREA ENCOMPASSES R2932, R2933, R2934, AND PORTIONS OF W497A, W158A, AND W158C. ADDITIONAL WARNING AND RESTRICTED AREAS WILL BE ACTIVE IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE OPERATIONS.
