737 NG Simulator Delivered To Pan Am International Flight Academy

Level D Certification Expected Next Month For Rockwell Collins Edge FFS

Rockwell Collins has delivered an advanced Edge 737 NG Full Flight Simulator (FFS) to the Pan Am International Flight Academy's North American training center in Miami, marking the U.S debut of the new system. The announcement was made Tuesday at the World Aviation Training Symposium (WATS).

The Edge 737 NG FFS, introduced by Rockwell Collins in 2009, is expected to achieve Level D certification by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) this May.

"We developed our Edge full flight simulator from a clean-sheet design and have been getting outstanding feedback on its capabilities, ease of use and flexibility in creating tailored programs for the end user," said Ken Schreder, vice president and general manager of Simulation and Training Solutions for Rockwell Collins. "The delivery to Pan Am is especially important to us as we look to introduce more training centers and pilots to the advanced capabilities of this system."

"As the latest customer for the Rockwell Collins Edge 737 NG FFS, Pan Am International Flight Academy is able to meet the simulator training needs for all our 737 NG Airline customers with this outstanding training device," said Vito Cutrone, president of Pan Am International Flight Academy.

The system features:

  • A highly configurable instructor tools suite that provides complete freedom to customize training to match the needs of trainees
  • An open systems hardware and software architecture that readily supports upgrades, allowing proactive obsolescence management and integration of the latest in commercial-off-the-shelf technology
  • A scalable, modular design providing a broad range of training devices with common software and hardware components.
  • At the forefront of technology, Rockwell Collins enhances training effectiveness by providing the most advanced solutions at the lowest cost of ownership. By leveraging its strengths in avionic systems development and training systems design, Rockwell Collins delivers total integrated training solutions that span the entire training life cycle, from instructional systems design through fully integrated high-fidelity training systems and support.
