Sport Aviation Alliance Laying Groundwork for No-Holds-Barred Consumer Advocacy

Paul Poberezny's Lesser-Known Organizational Baby is In Good Hands

Paul Poberezny's work needs little introduction in the world of experimental aviation, sport flying, and hobbyist aeronautics, being attached to what has grown into a titan today.

Sometimes, growth makes it easy to miss the little things, and today's "little guy" is smarting more than ever just looking at the price tags of "cheap" aircraft. Poberezny, seeing similar things while he was still with us, tried to forestall such a development, beginning the Sport Aviation Association, a group that centered itself entirely on the average everyday pilot. Now, a passionate group of industry vets have inherited the charter of Paul Poberezny's lesser-known organizational baby, and they're taking up his mission anew.

The Sport Aviation Association, in concert, with the 'Aviation Alliance', has 4 primary pillars creating its foundation: The propagation of functional, safe, and consistent aviation education far beyond the checkride; Consumer education, advocacy, and guidance; A strident and sometimes mischievous defense of the voiceless individual aviator; and a desire to fan the dying flames of community among those across the aeronautical world.

Each pillar presents a direct assault on the largest threats towards aviation: A functional education, to protect the lives of pilots throughout their long post-checkride career and ensure the survival of seasoned and inexperienced aviators alike. Consumer-focused advocacy, upending the norm of manufacturers and brands chasing their tails and giving buyers more of the same - instead of what they really desire. A defense of the average aviator, a professional body of experienced professionals who can say the plain and painful truths to a willfully deaf industry - and not just say them in the privacy of their own office. Finally, a return to the world where all aviators are granted a modicum of friendship by default, simply for chasing a passion we all hold in common.

Starting off the Sport Aviation Association is a handful of seasoned experts from across the hobbyist spectrum, chief among them Cirrus founder of legend, Alan Klapmeier; former AOPA President Phil Boyer (and one of aviation's greatest leaders); and Aero-News Network CEO and Bob Hoover Legacy Foundation Executive Director, Jim Campbell. Heading up the earliest stages, they will mobilize all their resources to carry out the mission of the Aviation Alliance. Much more info coming soon...
