STS-107 Down: The Navy Hymn

ANN Reader CAPT Andrew Niemyer, USNR, noted that, "It may be appropriate to post the following as a small memorium. It has been sung at Navy memorial services for many years.

We all lost 'family' today...

May they soar for eternity on wings unbound."

Eternal Father, Strong to save,
Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,
Who bid'st the mighty Ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep;
O hear us when we cry to thee,
for those in peril on the sea.
Lord, guard and guide to those who fly
Through the great spaces in the sky,
Be with them always in the air,
In dark'ning storms or sunlight fair.
O, Hear us when we lift our prayer,
For those in peril in the air.
Eternal Father, King of birth,
Who didst create the heaven and earth,
And bid the planets and the sun
Their own appointed orbits run;
O hear us when we seek they grace
For those who soar through outer space.
