ICAS To Induct Gattis, Granley Into HoF

Organizer And Performer To Join Industry’s Iconic Figures

The International Council of Air Shows has announced the two newest inductees into its prestigious Air Show Hall of Fame: Jim Gattis and Bud Granley, who will join the list of the air show industry’s most illustrious and iconic figures.

Jim Gattis was an event organizer who was instrumental in establishing the California International Air Show in the early 1980s and helped devise the innovative Salinas Plan for organizing and presenting air shows. In 1985 he received the ICAS Sword of Excellence and is only the tenth air show event organizer to be honored with induction to the Hall of Fame.

Neil “Bud” Granley was a skilled aviator who shaped a reputation across the nation during and air show career that extended across parts of seven decades. He is a former Royal Canadian Air Force pilot and had a long career as a commercial airline captain as well. Bud is famed for his ability to master anything with wings. Granley has also receive the esteemed Art Scholl and Bill Barber awards for showmanship.

Gattis and Granley will join the ranks of such famed air show personalities as Paul Poberezny, Bob Hoover, Leo Loudenslager, Kent Pietsch, Charlie Hillard, Art Scholl, Jimmy Franklin, and Duane Cole.

The two new members will be inducted into the Air Show Hall of Fame during the Chairman’s Banquet on Thursday, December 11 at the conclusion of the 2025 ICAS Convention in Las Vegas.
