Cessna Sims At FlightSafety Badly Damaged By Accident

Citation, Caravan Simulators Out Of Commission

Damage to the Cessna Citation And Caravan simulators at FlightSafety International caused by last week's tragic accident has left a big gap in training for those two types of aircraft in Wichita, KS.

The Wichita Eagle reports that the facility at Mid-Continent Airport is FlightSafety's only site for simulator training on some models of aircraft, and the company is scrambling to get customers training that was booked well in advance.

Textron Aviation spokeswoman Nicole Alexander told the paper that Cessna is working with FlightSafety to identify options for training for affected customers.

In a statement posted on its website, FlightSafety said that people scheduled to train in Wichita on the Caravan CE-208, Caravan G600, Caravan G1000, Citation XLS-Plus, Citation XLS, Citation Mustang, Citation VII, Citation M2, Citation CJ3-Plus, and Citation CJ4 sims "will be contacted within the next week to discuss training options.”

Training on the Citation Sovereign, Sovereign-Plus, Citation X, Citation X-Plus, Encore, Encore-Plus, and CJ3 will commence on schedule, according to the site.

The badly-damaged building in Wichita is the only location where FlightSafety offers simulation training in Cessna’s new Citation M2, the CJ4, Citation VII and the three Caravan models, it said on its website. Each sim costs between $10 and $18 million, depending on features.
