ASA Publishes Next Edition of Commercial Pilot Oral Exam Guide

Handbook for the Commercial Checkride Updated to Align with Newer ACS

ASA’s Oral Exam Guide Series has finally seen an update to the Commercial Pilot edition, providing a short, concise, portable way to bone up on the oral exam portion before the CPL checkride.

Those who pass and go on to instruct will find it doubly useful as they prep their own students on the test, too. The format contains the same Q&A presentation that gives enough data to be sure the material is covered without seeming conspicuously wordy or nervous, too. FAA references in this most recent edition have also been updated, assisting further study on the off chance something in there doesn't look familiar enough.

"After more than 30 years of assisting pilots with their checkrides, previous author Michael Hayes has retired," said the ASA update announcing the new edition. "The ASA Oral Exam Guide new editions are now written by Jason Blair. Mr. Blair is an active single- and multi-engine instructor and FAA Designated Pilot Examiner, and has issued over 1,000 pilot certificates."

"This new edition aligns with the Airman Certification Standards (ACS), with new and expanded information on pilot regulations, airworthiness, weather, airplane systems, emergency procedures, performance and limitations, cross-country flight, human factors, flight maneuvers, and scenario-based training. This book is the complete resource to prepare applicants for the commercial pilot airplane checkride and is valuable as a general refresher."
