Pot Discovered In Disabled Plane In Texas

Nose Gear Was Broken, Pilot Was Nowhere To Be Found

Sheriff's deputies in Waller County, TX, have something of a mystery on their hands. A GA plane containing a considerable amount of marijuana was abandoned at Houston Executive Airport after it suffered a nose gear failure on landing and skidded into the grass.

The Associated Press reports that witnesses saw one or more people running away from the airplane after it came to a stop, but no would could say how many. Chief Deputy John Kremmer said he had no idea where the pilot of the plane might be. The sheriff did not comment on the amount of contraband they found on board, but said it was certainly more than would be for personal use.

Airport executive director Andrew Perry said the plane was not one that was based at Houston Executive. "It flew in from somewhere else," he said.

The runway at the airport had to be shut down while the disabled airplane was cleared.
