Skydiving Is A Sport That Sets Lots Of Records But This Is The First One We’ve Seen That Has To Do With A Lack Of Oxygen.

Skydiving certainly qualifies to be one of the popular activities that falls under the category of AeroSports. What started out as recreational parachute jumping using World War II style parachute grew up in the 1960s with the advent of the rectangular chutes that are commonly used today. As the sport gained popularity, new and exciting ways to demonstrate skydiving abilities set record after record.

Records have been set for the highest jump and the longest freefall, and the newest variation of skydiving includes the dawning of “winged suits” introduced in the 1990’s.

We found out from various sources that a new record that has just been set, although we could not confirm who recorded this record. A Swiss man named Remo Lang leapt from a hot air balloon at an altitude of 26,200 feet. It’s reported he glided in the wing suit for about 5 minutes before deploying his parachute and landing safely for a total time from jump to landing of about 10 minutes. However, it was not just the jump or wing suit that set the record, it was the lack of him using any supplemental oxygen that was the kicker.

Yahoo news reported the Lang's team said he prepared himself for the jump by taking in oxygen from a tank intensively for half an hour before the jump.
