Civilian T-59 Plane Down At Arizona Marine Corps Station

One Marine On The Ground Fatally Injured In The Accident

A T-59 trainer belonging to Nevada-based Air USA went down Wednesday at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, resulting in the fatal injury of one Marine on the ground.

According to the USMC, the aircraft crash impacted a government vehicle, resulting in a Marine fatality. The Marine was pronounced dead upon arrival at Yuma Regional Medical Center. The name of the Marine was not immediately released.

"Our hearts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the Marine we lost in this tragic accident," stated MCAS Yuma Commanding Officer, Colonel Ricardo Martinez. "We, at MCAS Yuma, stand ready to provide support to his family."

The pilot and passenger of the aircraft were examined and released by MCAS Yuma emergency services personnel.

FAA Spokesman Ian Gregor told the Associated Press that the agency and the NTSB would be investigating because the aircraft was of civilian registry.

Air USA provides services under contract to U.S. military and defense contractors.
