Boise Alternate, Caldwell Airport Changing Name

Goodbye "Caldwell Industrial", Hello "Treasure Valley Executive"

Caldwell, Idaho will change the name of its local Caldwell Industrial Airport to Treasure Valley Executive Airport. The move comes after the Caldwell City Council unanimously voted in December in favor of the name change, hoping to revamp the image of the field into a more appropriate, upscale posture to further entice development.

Locals remember the original intention behind the former name, being called an industrial airport as the city's expansion saw the addition of numerous hangars, aircraft operations, and businesses, but ultimately that vision has passed. The city's position in the Treasure valley is better advertised as a secondary feeder airport for private air travel into the region, said the council through their spokeswoman. The city will now acknowledge the airport's development into a regional business platform befitting its position as one of the most busy airports in Idaho. "Caldwell’s airport features more hangars, more based aircraft, and more takeoff and landing operations than any other airport in Idaho – of any size," said city officials. Its designation as an official reliever airport for Boise has resulted in projected growth of large bizjet-capable hangars and a variety of FBOs, according to planners. The addition of the "executive" moniker is simply better branding for those looking to entice those users.

“Caldwell is growing into a business center anchoring the west end of The Treasure Valley,” said Bianca Stevenson, the Communication Specialist for the City of Caldwell. “Updating the airport's name from Caldwell Industrial Airport to Treasure Valley Executive Airport at Caldwell is a logical step that will serve us for generations to come. It not only reflects the city's development and marketing goals but also recognizes our ongoing growth into a Regional Business Airport.”
