Wing Names Couple as Drone Delivery's Best Customers

UAV Courier Services a Game Changer for Elderly Living

Since 2019, Paul and Susie Sensmeier have taken to the handy, easy delivery of drones more than anyone else in the world - according to Wing.

The firm says that the Sensmeier house has seen more than 1,000 drone deliveries, putting them above and beyond the regular early adopter of fancy, whiz-bang tech. Looking back on the things they've ordered, their love of droneborne delivery makes sense: Paul is the driver of the household, but with both in their early 80's, driving has become more of a chore than it once was.

The ability to order quick and simple deliveries from their local surroundings became a heaven-sent addition to their daily life. Everything from toiletries and medications to hot means and guilty dessert pleasures arrived by way of the whirring motors and drop-down winch of a drone courier. Perhaps more impressive was that even over 1,000+ orders the average delivery time stands at 12 minutes and 14 seconds.

"A lot of new technologies spark people’s imagination because they are novel and do something remarkable," read a Wing post about the couple. "Having headache medicine flown through the air by a tiny plane and lowered in your front yard is no different. But the fact that an 84-year-old couple is currently using this service more than anyone else in the world points to something different about drone delivery. As Susie and Paul have shown, it’s a technology that may start off as a novelty – but very quickly becomes just another part of everyday life."
