Cargo Plane Down In TX

Two Dead, One Critical

A cargo plane from El Paso (TX) skidded off the runway at Del Rio (TX) Friday night. The aircraft exploded, killing two crewmembers.

"He ran off the end of the runway, and then the airplane exploded," Federal Aviation Administration spokesman John Clabes said in today's editions of the San Antonio Express-News. Clabes said the aircraft was a Lear-25 configured for cargo.

In December of 2001, another Lear jet crash out of El Paso killed two people. That crash was north of Fort Hancock (TX). The Lear belonged to Air Cargo Express, a small air-freight company in Fort Wayne (IN) that transports factory products from Mexico across the border.
