Republic Airways To Add Up To 300 Jobs In Indy Next Year

Some Denver Positions Will Be Transferred, Other Jobs Created

Republic Airways Holdings announced Tuesday that it will add up to 300 full-time positions in Indianapolis next year. As a result of this job growth, the company will be eligible to receive up to approximately $4 million in economic incentives through the end of 2019, based on the actual number of new jobs created.

The job additions are part of Republic's consolidation of its business operations functions to its Indianapolis headquarters. The move will include consolidation of administrative and operating functions to capture synergies across all lines of business.

The consolidation will affect approximately 140 operations employees currently based in Denver and is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2010. Positions to be relocated include dispatchers, engineers, crew schedulers and other operations functions. The balance of the new positions in Indianapolis is expected to come from new job growth and additional consolidation of job functions throughout the company’s network.

“The move will be a seamless process for our customers and will not result in changes in flight frequency or destinations offered in our branded network,” said Bryan Bedford, the airline’s chairman, president and CEO. “Denver will remain by far Republic Airways’ largest employment center and hub, with a continued workforce of more than 3,500 employees.”

“In planning the acquisitions of Frontier and Midwest Airlines, we identified several areas where we could strengthen our business by leveraging operations and creating cost efficiencies across the company’s network,” said Wayne Heller, Republic’s executive vice president and chief operating officer. “This is a continuation of that process. Basing all our branded carriers’ operations functions in Indianapolis will allow us to streamline our processes, reduce overhead and redundancies and better position the company for continued success during these challenging economic times.”

“As Republic Airways continues to gain strength in the airline industry, the state of Indiana is proud to be a part of its success," said Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels. "Republic is one of a growing number of companies to consolidate a significant number of jobs in Indiana because of our low-cost business environment and robust logistics sector.”
