SecAF Has Common Reaction To Ride With Thunderbirds

She Was Unable To Keep Down Her Lunch

It would seem appropriate that the Secretary of the Air Force would be invited to ride with the Thunderbirds demonstration team ... for no other reason than just to have an understanding and appreciation for what they do. But Air Force Secretary Deborah Lee James may have gotten more than she bargained for during such an experience at Nellis Air Force Base recently.

James became "violently ill" while flying aboard one of the team's F-16s, according to a report appearing in The Washington TImes.

James said she had the opportunity to "observe various aircrews over multiple days" during her visit to Nellis. She also flew aboard an HH-60 combat SAR helicopter.

But aboard Thunderbird #4 ... "I learned to wait to eat lunch until after Thunderbirds practice is complete."

Of course, most videos taken of passengers aboard a Thunderbirds or Blue Angels flight show at least one such instance.

We'd like to go anyway.
