Flight Delayed By A ... Mouse

Maybe Mickey Needed A Vacation In London

A Delta Airlines flight scheduled to leave Kennedy Airport for London on Sunday night had to be evacuated when someone spotted a mouse in the cabin of the Boeing 767.

The New York Times reports that passengers were switched to another airplane after the rodent sighting, delaying their departure by about two and a half hours.

Delta spokesman Carlos Santos said the plane had to be inspected to determine if there was a mouse on board. He said the rodent could chew through wiring on the aircraft, causing a potential safety hazard. “Out of precaution, we changed the airplane,” Mr. Santos said. “Plain and simple, there’s not supposed to be a mouse on the airplane.”

The delay did not appear to anger the passengers, according to the deputy managing editor of the Times who happened to be booked on the flight.

Still, with all the places a mouse could hide on a 767 ... lets just say the phrase "needle in a haystack" comes to mind.
