Airborne 04.15.21: Piper's New CEO, Blue Angels Arrive, Stallion 51!

Also: Epic Aircraft Update, Artistic Aviation Plane Painter, Night Airshow Scenes

Piper has a new CEO and ANN got the very first interview! Piper’s John Calcagno chatted up the amazing technology in Piper’s automated landing system as well as the new Piper 100i flight trainer and the Piper Seminole... which is also making an impression on many as the current hot bird for the multi-engine flight training market.

Piper’s Buddy Sessoms also outlined some of the technology driving Piper thinking now and into the future. The Blue Angels have arrived for their new airshow season, despite having to wait out some nasty weather sitting over Pensacola, They showed off the hotrod Super Hornets, The first airplane upgrade in decades! the Super Hornet will result in major changes for their routine and operational parameters and give them a far more modern airframe to work with. Epic Aircraft is here and certified... and selling airplanes... quite a few of them we hear. After surviving the brutal certification process for both the airplane as well as the production program, speedy Epic single-engine turbo-props are rolling out the door in Oregon at an increasing rate. We’re looking forward to flying this bird... hopefully later this week, but we stopped by for a program update at the mid-point of Sun ‘n Fun 21. The Stallion 51 program is one of the most unique in all the world... I mean, where else can you get stick time from a qualified Mustang Instructor in a real-live, fire-breathing dual control TF-51 Mustang? ONLY at Stallion 51! Plus... Stallion 51’s Lee Lauderback is performing Mustang acro at Sun ‘n Fun throughout the week. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
