Aspen Avionics Pays You To Fly Safer?

Announces Huge Savings On Hazard Displays

Aspen Avionics announced a $1000 discount on their AT300 Hazard Display on Wednesday. It provides TAWS-like terrain and moving map capabilities to general aviation pilots for special pricing of $2495 through the end of April.

"First end-customer deliveries of the AT300 occurred in January, and since then we have received nothing but positive feedback from pilots and installers alike" said Peter Lyons, president of Aspen. "We've had one pilot recently call us and credit the AT300 with a 'save' when, after the ILS went down, ATC apparently forgot him on a vector heading toward higher terrain."

The instrument uses a high resolution 2.5 inch 240 x 480 AMLCD to provide a full-color moving map multifunction display. The system contains an integral terrain database uses sophisticated software algorithms to render a detailed, TAWS-like terrain moving map to alert the pilot to areas of potentially hazardous terrain and/or man-made obstacles along the aircraft's flight path.

The AT300 fits into a standard three inch instrument hole. Don't have one to spare? Well, just yank out that old VSI, the AT300 includes a vertical speed indicator in the display.

"The AT300 was already one of the most affordable MFDs on the market, and for the next month it will be even more affordable, thanks to this $1000 Sun 'n Fun savings," Lyons said.

The AT300 special price is available from all of Aspen's 27 dealers, including the nine Aspen dealers who will have the AT300 on display at the annual Sun 'n Fun fly-in in Lakeland, Florida, taking place from April 12 through 18. The company will conduct forums at the event for pilots to learn more and to ask questions on April 13th, 14th and 17th.

A news release from the company stated that the AT 300 certification is proceeding on schedule. Aspen reports that they have reached agreement with the FAA on all major certification objectives, key certification requirements, data submission requirements, and the overall certification schedule. The company has already submitted over 50% of the data that will be required, and is confident that the AT300 will achieve TSO certification this summer.  Aspen Avionics was formed in 2004 and is located in Albuquerque, NM.
