Jamie Eastman And Benjamin Summer Selected For The Financial Assistance
The MedEvac Foundation International has announced the recipients of the 2020 Medical Transport Leadership Institute (MTLI) Scholarship are Jamie Eastman, Quality Committee Chairperson for Duke Life Flight, and Benjamin Summer, Regional Manager for Life Link III. MTLI enhances leadership and management of medical transportation through formal education programs that emphasize the direct practical application of management theory. The scholarships are awarded annually to individuals who excel in the air medical and critical care transport industry and strive toward the betterment of the industry.

Metro Aviation began funding the initial MTLI Scholarship in 2009. “By attending MTLI, I will learn about the financial, legal, and operational safety elements that go into leading a CCT organization" said Jamie Eastman, the 2020 scholarship recipient. “MTLI will prepare me to integrate the clinical practices learned from our peers across the country and internationally and translate them into action here at Duke.”
"Metro has been a supporter of the MTLI scholarship for many years because we believe in the constant pursuit of knowledge and innovation," said Metro Aviation President Mike Stanberry. "We are honored to give back to a group of professionals committed to excelling and making the industry a better place."
MedEvac Foundation International continues to fund the second MTLI scholarship. “The knowledge gained at MTLI will be used not only to better my practice as a Regional Clinical Manager, but also to inspire others to strive for excellence and never settle for just good enough,” stated Summer the 2020 scholarship recipient. “I see tremendous benefits in the knowledge learned and shared at the institute.”
“We had an incredible pool of talent apply for MTLI scholarship this year,” said MedEvac Foundation International President and CEO, Cameron Curtis. “What set the winners apart this year was their drive to pay it forward. Benjamin mentioned how several MTLI graduates had gone out of their way to help them grow over the years and we’re proud to offer the recipients the opportunity to do the same for their teams in the future.”
The two-year MTLI Scholarships are awarded annually and are open to applicants with healthcare or aviation backgrounds. The 2021 MTLI Scholarship submission process will open in the fall.
