Schedule Set For Theater In The Woods For 2014 AirVenture

Poberezny Tribute, X-Prize Anniversary Celebration Among The Scheduled Events

EAA’s landmark open-air Theater in the Woods will present a week full of evening entertainment beginning Sunday, July 27, through Saturday, August 2, at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2014.

Starting out this year’s schedule is the traditional Night of Champions pre-convention program the Sunday night before opening day, featuring well-known aviation speakers and presenters (to be announced). The rest of week shapes up like this:

  • Monday, July 28 – A celebration of EAA Founder Paul Poberezny’s life, followed by Valdez STOL pilots panel discussion.
  • Tuesday, July 29 – Presentation of the annual Bill Barber Award for Showmanship by World Airshow News magazine; Space Night with Charlie Precourt and Joe Engle; and Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the X-Prize SpaceShipOne flight
  • Wednesday, July 30 – Warbirds Night, presented by the EAA Warbirds of America
  • Thursday, July 31 – World War I Aviation in recognition of this year’s WWI centennial commemoration, including the Millionaire’s Unit – the Invention of American Air Power and WWI aviation presentation by Ron Alexander.
  • Friday, August 1 – Meet the Thunderbirds Current Team and Alumni Team members.
  • Saturday, August 2 – EAA Concert Band performance, including music from Disney’s Planes and other selections.

Programming runs nightly from 8-10 p.m., except for Wednesday and Saturday (6:30-8 p.m.).
