Automation! Phenom 300E Autothrottle Imminent

Embraer to Introduce Optional System Q3 2024

Embraer has developed a new autothrottle feature the plane-maker will imminently make available for its Phenom 300E light business jet. The optional feature is engineered to enhance the model’s already single-pilot-friendly cockpit, which includes the G3000-based Prodigy Touch avionics suite.

By virtue of the new autothrottle system’s advanced automation technology, Phenom 300E pilots will enjoy diminished workload and a more intuitive flying experience. Passengers, too, will benefit from the new system, which facilitates enhanced smoothness of flight. The feature will be available as an option on new Phenom 300E aircraft starting in 2024’s third-quarter.

For in-service aircraft that have received factory-incorporated provisions, Embraer will develop an apposite Service Bulletin (SB) and make such available after 2024’s fourth-quarter.

Embraer Executive Jets president and CEO Michael Amalfitano stated: “We are excited to introduce autothrottle to the Phenom 300E's avionics suite. It is another example of Embraer’s mindset of continued improvement, listening to customers feedback, and elevating an industry-leading product even further. Innovations like this enhance the experience and deliver even more value to operators. And that is why an aircraft like the Phenom 300E continues to offer the ultimate experience in its category.”

The new autothrottle system further ensures the ongoing popularity and proliferation of Embraer’s Phenom 300 aircraft family, which for eleven-years has held the distinction of being the world’s best-selling light-jet. Moreover, the Phenom 300 is the most-flown private jet in the United States, where more than seven-hundred specimens of the aircraft have cumulatively logged upwards of two-million flight hours.

The Phenom 300E’s best-in-class capabilities include a five-occupant range of 1,971-nautical-miles (with IFR reserves); a 9.4-psi maximum cabin differential-pressure by dint of which the aircraft maintains a 6,600-foot cabin at its FL450 service-ceiling; a 464-knot (0.69 Mach) cruise-speed; a 533-knot (0.80 Mach) Vne.

By way of mass, the Phenom 300E’s maximum payload and take-off weights are advertised as 2,637-pounds and 18,551-pounds respectively.

Additional appointments by which the Phenom 300 has maintained its decade-plus hegemony over the light-jet market include the aforementioned Prodigy Touch avionics suite’s Runway Overrun Awareness And Alerting System (ROAAS)—the first of its kind developed and certified for use in a business jet, as well as predictive windshear; Emergency Descent Mode; Gogo’s AVANCE L5 broadband connectivity, and PERF, TOLD, and FAA Datacom.

Powered by a pair of 3,478-lbf-thrust Pratt & Whitney Canada PW535E1 engines, the Phenom is at once capable and comfortable, offering passengers a spacious cabin featuring distinctive, Embraer DNA Design; reclining, full-movement seats; discrete temperature zones for crew and passengers; voice and data communication options; an entertainment system; and the largest windows in the light-jet class. Unlike many aircraft its size, the Phenom 300 offers occupants a private, externally-serviced lavatory; and an airstair.
