SportPlane Resource Guide Returns... Now Targeted To LSA/Affordable Flyers

3rd Edition of Massive SportPlane Compendium Will Concentrate on LSA's and Affordable Aircraft

It's been a number of years since the Latest Edition of Jim Campbell's HUGE SportPlane Resource Guide first saw the light of day. The 1100 page book last featured over 740 exciting sport aircraft from all over the SportPlane universe... at a time when the SportPlane industry was still a healthy, thriving enterprise (those were the days...). While there has been some consideration, off and on, toward updating the nearly 5 pound book, the near implosion of the SportPlane and kit industry over the last decade has made such a pursuit an unwieldy one... until now.

As aviation contends with leaner times and a tough market, one portion in particular, shows both the need as well as the interests to justify a revamping of what many considered to be THE pivotal work covering all things SportPlane. "The LSA side of sport aviation has been victimized by extensive hype and a lot of misinformation... yet holds substantial promise for a needed revitalization of the market... that being the case, we are committed to taking the very best of the SportPlane resource Guide program and adapting it to the needs of those looking for an entry-level or affordable flying machine," noted SPRG Author/Test Pilot, Jim Campbell.

This effort will be an extensive one and plans are afoot for both a print as well as electronic edition. Formats and configurations are being studied but one of the benefits that we see to an electronic edition is the ability to publish updates on a regular basis to keep all the information as current as possible... so the greatest consideration will be given to this part of the process -- an extensive effort that is expected to take upwards of a year before completion.

The SportPlane Resource Guide, which will feature an extensive aircraft and equipment directory as well as informative how-to sections (for both S-LSA as well as E-LSA), will provide impartial specifications and analysis of an aircraft's capabilities. It will also provide specific direction to those interested in flying light-sport aircraft as a sport pilot. Question after question from the readers of ANN, about the LSA market over the years, centered on specifics about the planes, engines, parts, accessories, necessary tools... as well as the value, trustworthiness, and true capabilities they possessed. You told us, time and time again, "We want (a lot) of information on the LSA industry!"

We assure you that the next edition of the SportPlane Resource Guide will do just that.

Best of all, and where possible, the editors of this book will offer solid, analytical and qualitative analysis of the aircraft and products you depended on... with our characteristic "Take No Prisoners" honesty and matter-of-fact evaluations.

ANN will release additional details at the 2013 US Sport Aviation Expo, in Sebring this January, while survey materials and other data will be disseminated for collection this spring. Advance orders will be accepted in the Spring of 2013 and we'll let you know when that occurs...

Most important, though, if YOU have ideas about what YOU want to see in this book, NOW is the time to tell us.... be sure to let us know!

Attention: LSA Manufacturers, Suppliers, Vendors...

Despite the ravages of war, pestilence, roasted (and un-backed-up) hard drives, and everything but a plague of locusts, the SportPlane Resource Guide continues its migration from its last extraordinary edition to a new, improved and superior version—with special emphasis on the Sport Pilot/LSA movement. And best of all… it will be distributed and supported by the most widely read DAILY aviation news service in the world. That means that this thing will have REACH -- ALL OVER THE WORLD.

But... does it have YOUR plane in it?

If you're a vendor with a Light Sport Aircraft (E-LSA or S-LSA), kit, or plans-built aircraft of any kind, drop us a line and make sure that we have your information. Be sure to get in touch with us as soon as possible so that we can log in your details and to make sure that you're among the first to receive the surveys and other data requests after they are sent out early in 2013. You DO NOT want to miss out on the chance to be featured in this book...
