U.S. Army Chooses IS&S ThrustSense Autothrottle For C-12

For Installation On Aircraft With ProLine 21 Avionics

Innovative Solutions & Support announced that its ThrustSense Autothrottle system has been selected by the U.S. Army for installation on ite C-12 (B200) aircraft equipped with the ProLine 21 avionics suite.

The technology enables protection across the full flight envelope, from takeoff to landing, including go-around. With it, pilots can automatically control engine power settings, yielding better efficiency and safety.

The ThrustSense Authothrottle reduces pilot workload by computing and adjusting power settings automatically, bringing a new level of convenience to operators of the King Air and C-12 platforms. It protects against critical flight conditions such as overtorque, overtemperature, and dangerously slow or fast speeds during high-workload situations. ThrustSense also ensures stabilized approaches by maintaining optimum descent speeds and guards against VMCa (Minimum Descent Speed in Air).

The ThrustSense system does not require any structural modifications to the throttle quadrant and is installed with minimal downtime. It is controlled by an easy-to-install Integrated Standby Unit (ISU).

Larry Riddle, Vice President of Sales & Marketing at IS&S said, “With the King Air’s versatility across a broad range of missions, operators are increasingly focused on improving operational efficiency and reducing crew workload. ThrustSense is a perfect example of how IS&S is leading the way in cockpit automation, enhancing both safety and performance.”

The ThrustSense Authothrottle is globally certified for Beechcraft King Air B200 and B300 aircraft, and is standard on King Air 260 and 260 production models.
