Animals Need To Be Transported From Texas To Ohio

The Remote Area Medical Network has issued a call for pilots who are willing to fly animals from storm-ravaged areas of Texas to shelters in Ohio.

The organization sent out a message that was forwarded to Aero-News by a member of EAA Chapter 17 in Tennessee saying that they could not transport animals by road. "RAM is STILL in dire need (as are the poor animals) of aircraft with pilots  that go down to Houston, Texas, load up abandoned or lost animals, and flown to Ohio.

"Any aircraft that can carry at least 4 dogs or cats in the back would be most welcome," the letters states.
 
"RAM is in daily contact with the Humane Society in Houston and the need is desperate."

According to their website, Remote Area Medical’s mission to prevent pain and alleviate suffering is fueled by donors and volunteers who support the operation of mobile medical clinics that deliver free, high-quality vision, dental, and medical services to children, individuals, and families who do not have access or cannot afford a visit to a doctor. Since 1985, RAM’s Corps of more than 100,000 Humanitarian Volunteers, comprised of licensed dental, vision, veterinary, and medical professionals, have treated more than 700,000 individuals and 67,000 animals, delivering $112 million worth of free health care services.
