Luxury Watchmaker Commemorates 5th Anniversary Of The 'Miracle On The Hudson'

Captain Chesley 'Sully' Sullenberger Is A Company 'Brand Ambassador'

Swiss luxury watchmaker JEANRICHARD will honor brand ambassador and hero pilot, Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, on the 5th Anniversary of the landing of Flight 1549 on the Hudson, with the launch of the special edition “208 Seconds” Aeroscope watch. The watch "represents what can happen in a matter of moments, as seen in the 208 seconds it took Captain Sullenberger (pictured) to land the plane on the Hudson," according to a company news release.

Part of the proceeds of the watch will go to continue to support Captain Sullenberger's philanthropic endeavors, The American Red Cross and The Rory Staunton Foundation.

The event will be held Tuesday, January 14, in New York City. Sullenberger is a New York Times best-selling author and aviation expert. Ranked second in Time’s “Top 100 Most Influential Heroes and Icons of 2009”and awarded the French Legion of Honor, Captain Sullenberger is also an internationally known public speaker focusing on leadership and patient safety. He also contributes a blog to the watch company's website.

Sullenberger famously ditched a US Airways Airbus A320 in the Hudson River shortly after takeoff from LaGuardia airport in New York when birds were ingested into both engines of the airplane, causing them to flame out. All 155 people on board the airplane survived the incident.
