Issues Six Recommendations To FAA For Better Training,

Following an extensive study, the National Transportation Safety
Board (NTSB) has issued its formal recommendations to the FAA on
weather-related general aviation accidents. The 80-page report
details six specific areas of concern, including additional
weather-related training for pilots during biennial flight reviews
and a minimum requirement on weather-related questions that must be
answered correctly on FAA Airman Knowledge Tests.

contributors to stressing the importance and necessity of
rotorcraft in the world today.

NASA's Centennial Challenges program has announced the Planetary
Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Challenge, in collaboration with the
California Space Education and Workforce Institute, Santa Maria,
CA. NASA says the $250,000 competition, scheduled for 2007, may
significantly affect how science is conducted on planets and moons
with atmospheres.

When Amanullah Khan, 56, of Brea, CA stood to face the judge for
sentencing Monday, a case that began almost exactly four years ago
with a small aluminum forging that should have been made of steel
finally saw justice done. Federal lawmen uncovered millions of
dollars worth of fraud, and unimaginably callous risks taken with
human lives, in the course of a case that wove through Federal
courts on both coasts of the nation -- and sent two men to
prison.
Marc Tacchi has done something few line pilots have done.
Tacchi, who flies cargo 747s, has also racked up one MILLION
frequent-flier miles as a paying passenger. And he did it in just
two months with just one airline (not the operator he flies for,
either). He calls it the Great Canadian Mileage Run of 2005.
Northrop Grumman Corporation tells Aero-News the company has
successfully conducted a critical design review of its MQ-8B Fire
Scout unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) for the US Navy. The
review moves the program closer to full-scale production and
delivery of the vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) UAV to the
Navy.
"Historically, about two-thirds of all general aviation (GA)
accidents that occur in instrument meteorological conditions (IMC)
are fatal -- a rate much higher than the overall fatality rate for
GA accidents."

weather-related general aviation accidents -- including better
