Aero-TV: Championing Growth -- Association For Women In Aviation Maintenance

In Honor of WomenVenture 2009... We Present AWAM!

In honor of all things oriented to Women in Aviation, we are pleased to present a look at AWAM... Association For Women In Aviation Maintenance. According to their mission statement, AWAM is "a nonprofit organization formed for the purpose of championing women's professional growth and enrichment in the aviation maintenance fields by providing opportunities for sharing information and networking, education, fostering a sense of community and increasing public awareness of women in the industry."

AWAM notes that, "Traditionally, most aviation organizations primarily are founded and strive to support and inform pilots. Many in the aviation community, felt a need for an organization to support the aviation maintenance industry, in particular the female members. This brought about the organization of AWAM."

AWAM tells ANN that is open to both men and women and has membership opportunities for students, and corporations. Our membership consists of maintenance technicians, engineers, teachers, scientists, vendors and pilots that support maintenance in one form or another. "Our goal is to help women in the aviation maintenance related fields and find ways to network and support each other in this field."
