Thomas Global Gains EASA Approval For Display Upgrades

TFD-4000/4100 LCD Displays Replace Collins CRTs

Thomas Global Systems received supplemental type certification (STC) from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for its TFD-4000/4100 liquid crystal display (LCD) upgrades to replace legacy Collins Aerospace EFD-4076/4077 cathode ray tube (CRT) displays on numerous aircraft models.

The displays are now authorized to be installed in the Bombardier Challenger 604, Gulfstream G100/200, Dassault Falcon 2000/2000EX/50EX, Saab 2000, and MHI CRJ series aircraft. European operators with the Pro Line 4 avionics can efficiently eliminate risk of obsolescence with CRTs while taking advantage of the latest high-performance LCD tech without the expense of a full cockpit retrofit, excessive downtime, or crew retraining.

The EASA certification follows the recent STC approval of the displays by the FAA and additional certifications are anticipated by the end of 2024.

The TFD-4000/4100 displays utilize Thomas Global Systems’ technology currently in use across the Boeing 767/757/737-C, MHI CRJ Series, ATR 42/72, Dash 8, Saab 340, EMB120, and other regional and business aircraft.

Cyro Stone, Thomas Global Systems Vice President of Programs “We are delighted to have EASA approvals in place to make our TFD-4000/4100 upgrades available to business jet and regional operators in Europe. The TFD-4000/4100 upgrades deliver high-performance AMLCD technology in a practical and efficient plug-and-play design, enabling customers to cost-effectively address EFD-4076 and EFD-4077 CRT display obsolescence, reduce costs, and improve reliability for their Pro Line 4 equipped flight decks.”
