See Rare Aircraft, USCG Rescue and Bell 47 M*A*S*H Helos

The New Jersey Aviation Hall of Fame and Museum in Teterboro, New Jersey, announced it is holding an Open Cockpit Day on Saturday, September 13, 2025. Visitors will be able to sit in the cockpits of some rare aircraft such as the Lockheed Bushmaster, a U.S. Coast Guard Rescue Helicopter, and an example of a M*A*S*H Bell 47 helicopter that was made famous during the Korean War and of course by the long-running television series, M*A*S*H.

The Bell 47 was the first helicopter certified by the Civil Aeronautics Administration in March 1946. The model used in the tv show was the military H-13 Sioux model modified specifically for medevac operations.

The Museum has been named one of the 10 best in New Jersey, right up there with the Thomas Edison Center at Menlo Park, the colonial era Old Barracks Museum, Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial, the Cape May Lighthouse, and more.

The lineup of aircraft includes:

• U.S. Coast Guard Rescue Helicopter
• Military M*A*S*H Bell 47 H-13 Sioux Helicopter
• Martin 202A Airliner
• Bell AH-1 Cobra Attack Helicopter
• OV-1A Mohawk Observation/Attack Aircraft
• General Aviation Trainer G.A. T-1
• Glider donated by Jersey Ridge Soaring

For the younger kids, there will also be an official Airport Rescue Firefighter Truck and a working display of the International Space Station. What kid doesn’t love sitting in a fire truck or space station?

Admission is $20 for Adults, $15 for Seniors, and $12 Children ages 3 to 12, kids under 2 are FREE.

No reservations needed, no discounts available, no library or membership passes accepted.

Veterans are welcomed (with a discount) and are asked to honor the museum by signing their Wall of Honor.
