First Airbus A321neo Delivered to KLM

Airline Joins Others Operating Largest Of A320neo Line

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, the Dutch national air carrier, announced it has taken delivery of the first of its A321neo aircraft into its fleet.

The airline is expecting to take three additional A321neo aircraft this year as it brings the latest technology to lowering noise during takeoffs, approaches, and landings. Combined with advanced fuel efficiency, the A321neo aligns with the environmental ambitions of the airline. The aircraft seats 227 passengers who will experience the larger XL bins as well as larger seats and tables for improved boarding and comfort. Further, every seat has USB-C ports and a holder for charging and mounting personal devices.

KLM plans to invest €7 billion in its fleet renewal program over the next several years as it replaces its older Boeing 737s on European routes. The A321neo will first be used on service to Copenhagen, Berlin, and Stockholm beginning in September. These will be followed by the Paris, Prague, and Vienna routes.

Marjan Rintel, KLM President & CEO stated, “I’ve been looking forward to this with great anticipation. The arrival of the first A321neo marks the start of replacing our Boeing 737 fleet. The A321neo produces less noise and CO2 and therefore contributes significantly to a cleaner, quieter future. It also offers more comfort. I am looking forward to see how our passengers will experience the new aircraft.”
