Air Force Brigadier General Selected As Next DLA Aviation Commander

Brig. Gen. Scott Jansson Will Lead The Division

Defense Logistics Agency Director Navy Vice Adm. Alan Thompson has announced the selection of Air Force Brig. Gen. Scott Jansson as the next commander of DLA Aviation based in Richmond, Va.

Brig. Gen. Scott Jansson

Jansson has served as director of the Iraq Security Mission, helping the Iraqi government build its military and police forces, since March 2010. He will replace Navy Rear Adm. Vincent L. Griffith, who took command of DLA Aviation in June 2009. The general has served as a group commander and system program manager for the F-16 Fighting Falcon and as a commander for two wings. Prior to his current assignment, he was vice commander of the Ogden Air Logistics Center at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, from August 2009 to March 2010.

Jansson was commissioned a second lieutenant upon graduating from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1984. He has a master’s degree in astronautical engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology and is a distinguished graduate of the Air Command and Staff College. In his new role at DLA Aviation, Jansson will oversee the logistics support of more than 1.3 million repair parts and supply items that support 1,300 major weapons systems.
