Passenger Winds Up With Pilot's Handgun After Bag Mixup

Two Flights Delayed As A Result

A passenger boarding a JetBlue flight at JFK airport grabbed the wrong bag ... really the wrong bag.

Rachel Hazen was on her way to Florida, out of the New York cold and snow, we guess, when she inadvertently picked up a bag belonging to the pilot of a different JetBlue flight, Michael Connery. Connery is ... or was ... part of TSA's program to arm some pilots as a security measure.

Hazen didn't realize her mistake until she had boarded her flight, according to the New York Daily News. She alerted a flight attendant, who found the gun inside the bag along with Connery's ID. The mixup was eventually sorted out, but both flights were delayed in the process.

A TSA spokesperson told CNN that the handgun had been secured in such a way that it could not be fired. The spokesperson also said Connery no longer has the firearm.

Meanwhile, we're imagining the look that might have been on his face had he flown to whatever his destination was, and on opening his bag finding women's clothes rather than his weapon.
