Manufacturer Reports a Record $26.6 Billion Backlog for Q1 2025

Brazilian aerospace manufacturer Embraer recently published its first quarterly report of the year, bringing in several all-time highs and breaking records set just last year. Most notably, the company managed a $26.4 billion backlog across the industry and delivered 30 aircraft.

Embraer’s $26.4 billion backlog surpassed the previous record, which was set at $26.3 billion just last quarter. Commercial Aviation, despite being 2% lower quarter over quarter, made up the largest chunk of the total backlog at $10 billion. Executive Jets had a 3% quarter-over-quarter increase and a 66% year-over-year growth, logging $7.6 billion in orders.

The last two sectors, Defense and Security as well as Services and Support, made up the other $8.8 billion in the backlog. These both remained pretty much stagnant from 2024 Q4.

The manufacturer also made strides in aircraft deliveries, handing over 30 aircraft for a 20% year-over-year increase. This marks 13% of the midpoint in Embraer’s full year guidance, which targets between 222 and 240 aircraft in 2025.

These financial wins are a continuation of Embraer’s 2024 performance. A large part of this was a deal with private jet company Flexjet, which was valued at up to $7 billion. It guaranteed orders for more than 180 Praetor 600, Praetor 500, and Phenom 300E executive jets, leaving the door open for up to 30 more orders. It also provided upgrades to Flexjet’s service and support.

Embraer has already shared several big deals for the rest of the year, including an order by ANA Holdings for 15 E190-E2 commercial jets with the option for 5 more. This is expected to appear in the second half of 2025 once the contract has been signed. Agreements for the KC-390 - four from Sweden and 3 from Slovakia - plus 16 for the A-29 by Portugal and Panama will also come through shortly.

However, the manufacturer’s luck may be running low. It stated that it was “unable to deliver 2 additional aircraft during the quarter because of commercial issues.” These may become worse as recent tariff chaos threatens international supply chain stability.

"We have to be realistic about these tariffs," Embraer CEO Francisco Gomes Netos stated. "If it continues like this, this will bring more complexity and costs to companies, including Embraer."
