Tecnam’s Flagship Trainer Gets a New Major Customer

OSM Aviation Academy Inks LOI for 25 IFR-Certified P-Mentors

Tecnam’s latest poster child, the P-Mentor, has earned itself another major customer in a recent deal with OSM Aviation Academy. The Letter of Intent contains 25 of the IFR-certified trainers, with the option for 5 more as operations ramp up.

“We are excited to strengthen our partnership with Tecnam as we continue to scale our training operations,” said Martin Floor, CEO of OSM Aviation Academy. “The P-Mentor’s efficiency, safety, and IFR capabilities make it the perfect aircraft for training the next generation of Airline Ready pilots.”

The P-Mentor is a two-seat, CS-23/IFR-certified trainer marketed for everything from primary instruction to instrument and upset prevention/recovery training. It uses a Rotax powerplant, a modern glass cockpit, and a design optimized for low fuel burn and predictable handling, appealing to flight schools looking for cost-effective, modern replacements for legacy trainers.

OSM claims the order supports increased demand for its Airline Ready programs as it works to uphold its European tenure while expanding overseas. The school has been operating in Norway since 1963 and, more recently, established a base at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (KFXE) in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Building an IFR-capable fleet also helps to train cadets to airline standards from the get-go.

“The aircraft order forms part of a broader group strategy to establish a strong presence in the United States to support OSM’s flight training operations, while creating a platform for further expansion across both the U.S. and European markets,” said Hans Kyrre Hultgren, Executive Director of OSM Aviation Academy.
