AMA Drone Report 02.14.19: AMA Expo East, Altitude Angel, Sun ‘n Fun Drone Show

Also: Oklahoma Legislature, Corona CA PD Deploys, National Model Aviation Museum

Finally! This year’s rendition of AMA’s Expo East is right around the corner. Despite the dreary winter weather surrounding many of us, there is much to look forward to a month from now... including AMA Expo East, the second year that AMA has run this special event.

This three-day expo provides a world-class display of the latest and greatest products for the modeling enthusiast and fun activities the whole family can enjoy, including flying demonstrations, model rocket and plane build-and-fly stations – as well as interactive displays, static model competitions and guest speakers. With 100+ exhibitors and expert modelers on hand, the expo will be entertaining for the novice and experienced modeler alike. Taking place at Secaucus New Jersey’s Meadowlands Exposition Center, this year’s rendition is set for February 22-24 with Friday, February 22, 2019 scheduled for 1100–1700, Saturday, February 23, 2019 for 1000-1700 and Sunday, February 24, 2019 for 1000-1600. Altitude Angel has partnered with DJI to improve safety and open up more of the skies to its customers. Replacing AirMap for Altitude Angel’s GuardianUTM platform, which enables any drone manufacturer or software developer to get access to accurate drone safety data, DJI reports that it has been able to extend the functionality of its geofencing solution (GEO 2.0) so it now more accurately reflects the highest safety risks around particular facilities. One of the sport aviation world’s premier events has added a drone show to their impressive airshow roster. You may have seen them at the Olympics, and most recently at the Super Bowl. Now, airshow fans at the annual SUN ‘n FUN International Fly-In and Expo in Lakeland can look forward to something special – the first public drone light show performance at a Florida airshow. Over 60 of the specialized aerial robots will lift off together, taking flight twice during the week-long event. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of the AMA Drone Report!!!
