Twin Sisters Earn Their Pilots License On The Same Day

Part Of An Aviation Family That Spans Four Generations

Twenty-Four year old twin sisters, Lexie Hope Wilson and Emily Hope Wilson, were licensed by the FAA as Private Pilots on December 7, 2019. The event took place at Austin’s Bergstrom International Airport.

After graduation from college and with over two years in the corporate work force in Austin, Texas, these twin sisters decided they wanted to pursue something more challenging and exciting. The fact aviation remains a male-dominated space, with less than 6% of Commercial and Airline Transport Pilots in the United States being women, did not discourage them. Their next step is to relocate to Phoenix, Arizona and enter a seven month Airline Career Pilot Program offered by the leader in Airline Pilot training, ATP Flight Schools.

Lexie and Emily’s seven month accelerated airline oriented training program will include the addition of the Commercial and Certified Flight Instructor Certificates along with their Instrument and Multi-Engine Ratings.

The Wilson twins are fourth generation aviators. Lexie and Emily’s father is an International Airline Pilot and flight instructor. Their grandfather was a World War II Combat Pilot with 32 B17 missions over Europe and a career global flyer. Their great grandfather was first licensed as a pilot with the U.S. Army Signal Corps in 1916. Lexie said, “Aviation seems to be in our DNA,” Lexie said. Her twin sister Emily added, “Perhaps we avoided the obvious for many years. Now is our time to carry on the family tradition of flying.”

It’s believed Lexie Hope Wilson and Emily Hope Wilson are the first female twins to obtain their FAA Private Pilots Licenses on the same day.
