'Um, Irv, Maybe We Should Redistribute The Cargo'

MD-11 Cargo Plane Tips On Tail At LAX

It could have been worse. They could have been flying this far out of weight and balance.

Seven workers were stranded about 40 feet above the ground Thursday when the World Airways MD-11 they were unloading suddenly tipped onto its tail, nose-high in the air at Los Angeles International Airport.

Ooops.

There was no immediate indication as to why the aircraft tipped back on its tail. The seven workers were stranded sky-high for about an hour until they were rescued by an LAX Fire Department ladder truck. As for the aircraft, it looks like airport workers will probably have to use a crane to right it.
