Two Injured When United Plane Strikes SeaTac Jetway

Passengers Out Of Seats When Plane Started Moving

The plane was at the jetway. It had come to a complete stop, and the seatbelt light had been turned off... so the last thing anyone expected was for the United Airlines 757 to start moving again. That's what happened, however, Sunday night at Seattle-Tacoma International.

A passenger and a flight attendant onboard the aircraft were injured slightly as they had begun to move about the cabin, when the airliner began moving again. The Seattle Times reports the plane moved approximately 10 feet before the left engine cowling struck the jetway.

The flight, coming in from Chicago, was at gate N-6 when the accident occurred, said United spokesman Jeff Green. None of the other 144 passengers and five crew members onboard were injured.

The airliner is being examined by maintenance crews, Green added.
