AEA Hosting Avionics Installation Seminar

June 22-24: Basic Wiring & Avionics Installation Training Seminar

In cooperation with Tarrant County College and the National Center for Aircraft Technician Training (NCATT), the AEA will host an avionics installation training seminar from June 22-24 at Tarrant County’s Northwest Campus in Fort Worth, Texas.

“Basic Wiring and Avionics Installation for Technicians” (an FAA-approved course for IA refresher training) is a two-and-a-half day training course offered to apprentice technicians and mechanics at any skill level.

The course covers installation theory and best practices and includes hands-on lab experience. The short schedule takes attendees from project concept to installation and final test of some of the more common general aviation panel-mounted avionics from Garmin.

Students at all levels of experience will benefit from the exposure to industry’s best practices, a thorough review of acceptable installation methods and examination of manufacturers’ prescribed installation procedures.

Regardless of the type of equipment being installed, many of the connections behind the panel are similar. Understanding and practicing proper wire harness fabrication, routing and installation techniques are essential to performing quality avionics installs.

In addition to learning these proven techniques, students will study what not to do in a review of common wiring discrepancies. Awareness of improper wiring techniques will help improve troubleshooting efficiency and prevent problems with future installations.
