FA-22 Raptor To Fly In Fleet Week Air Show

First Time For The Air Force Plane In The San Francisco Exhibition

For the first time in the history of Fleet Week, the Air Force F-22 Raptor will be blazing through the skies of San Francisco during the 31st annual Fleet Week celebration October 4-7 2012. The FA-22 is one of the fastest jets to ever fly during Fleet Week with top speeds of Mach 1.8 or just over 1,300 mph. With the fighter jets' perfect combination of stealth, speed, agility and precision along with its mind-boggling array of weapons, the FA-22 is a critical aircraft for the United States Air Force. Make sure to make plans to see these extremely fast and powerful jets on Sunday, October 7th.

Along with the FA-22 Raptor, Fleet Week's air show will feature the ever popular and remarkable United States Navy Blue Angels as well as the Royal Canadian Air Force CF-18 Team.  Also appearing this year are:

  • Aircraft from the United States Marine Corps aircraft
  • Sean D. Tucker & Team Oracle
  • United Airlines 747
  • Lucas Oil Airshows with Michael Whiskus
  • T-33 Ace Maker presented by Wargaming North America

Hosted by the San Francisco Fleet Week Association nearly every year since 1981, Fleet Week provides an opportunity for the citizens of San Francisco to meet Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen, as well as witness firsthand the latest capabilities of today's Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and the Coast Guard Team. The prime mission of the San Francisco Fleet Week Association is to focus on the Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response mission of the armed forces through facilitating seminars and training with FEMA and other Bay area first responders.

A variety of family-oriented special events will be staged along the waterfront. The Marina Green will have an entertainment area featuring various exhibits. There will also be a military Humanitarian Relief Village showcasing what both our military and civilian response teams are doing to get themselves and the community ready in case of a disaster.

Aquatic Park, Fisherman's Wharf and PIER 39 will also have events and viewing areas.
