Women in Aviation Theme Announced For Dayton Air Show

Year Of The Woman In Aviation

WAI tells ANN that you know that women have made it in aviation when air shows across the country are calling it the “Year of the Woman in Aviation.” This year’s Dayton International Air Show is no different, and Women in Aviation, International will occupy more than 8,000 square feet under tent July 17-18, 2004. The pavilion, provided with the generosity of the Dayton 2004 Air Show, is where WAI will hold mini-seminars with famous air show performers including Julie Clark, Mary Dilda and Bob and Pat Wagner, as well as informative sessions with WAI President Dr. Peggy Chabrian.

The Women in Aviation Pavilion will include displays from other organizations as well, including the United States Air Force, the Women Airforce Service Pilots, the FAA, NASA, the Ninety-Nines, Professional Women Controllers, and more. A historical display of aircraft including a Bleriot (flown by Harriet Quimby in the early 1900s), a North American T-6 and a T-34 will help to depict the contributions that women have made throughout aviation’s history. A special tribute to Katharine Wright, sister of the Wright brothers, will be just one of the many other displays at the Dayton show this July.

The Trade Show building will showcase youth activities throughout the two-day show. Children will receive a commemorative Women in Aviation-themed Youth Activity book as part of their participation.
