Classic Aero-TV: Real Aviation Leadership -- AEA's Paula Derks, Part 2

A Comprehensive Overview of the State Of The Avionics Industry, Part 2

This video is a continuation of the interview by ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell of Paula Derks, the president of the Aircraft Electronics Association (AEA). The interview was held at the 2014 AEA convention.

Jim asked questions about the future of the avionics industry and received some interesting answers. Derks said the next big thing on the horizon is the Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen) and the industry is gearing up for its implementation. She reminds us that it’s not that far away.

As new technologies appear, Derks indicated how important it is to partner with the FAA. She pointed out that AEA is interested in building a better relationship with the regional FAA offices because that’s who AEA members have to work with. AEA is also working with other associations, such as GAMA, and has been holding forums regarding helicopter avionics.

The bottom line is, aircraft avionics is a dynamic and rapid moving industry. Derks said, “Our industry is crazy in a good way.” This video provides an insider look at how the AEA works and the issues that affect the industry AEA represents.
