Pan Am Flight Academy Expands Again

Miami Flight School Opens Separate Simulator Campus

Pan Am Flight Academy announced the expansion of their flight school, opening up a separate location to house its 8 flight simulators in a single story, 67,700 square-foot facility in the first quarter of 2022.

The new location will sport 22 separate simulator bays, which, when counted alongside their initial Miami International Airport location, brings their full potential capacity to 36 simulators total. Currently, even with their most recent buys, they operate 20 simulators of various levels across its 3 Florida locations.

Pilot hiring has once again made headlines, as the aftereffects of the 2009 minimum time requirements have continued to hamper the creation of fresh, airline-ready pilot candidates. Pan Am has found 2021 to be very good to them, completing the upgrade of a second Boeing -777 Level D full motion sim to emulate the -200ER variant, among others.

Two additional Boeing 767-200 sims, a 757-200, and an A757 FTD all found their way into Pan Am's stables in recent months, often the result of successful negotiations with prior owners. Company President, Jeff Portanova, says his company is one of the leading providers for aviation training for national and international air carriers. The location has become a flight training hub for operations worldwide seeking suitable training in the pricey, uncommon full motion trainers for large Airliners, helped in no small part by the sunny Florida weather.

"The new facility translates into a high-quality service for our clients and operations team, an expansion of our growing business and an investment in cutting edge technology for all of our equipment and programs," he said.
