Heli-Expo 2008: AFS Barrier Filters Standard On MD500s

EASA Certification Expected Soon; FAA Approval In-Hand

Aero-News learned Sunday MD Helicopters recently certified Aerospace Filtration Systems, Inc. (AFS) Inlet Barrier Filters as standard equipment on its MD500 helicopter production line.

"From our early days, MD Helicopters has been a consistent partner in development and installation of our MD500 barrier filter systems," said AFS President Michael Scimone. "We are very appreciative of MDHI's choice making the MD500 IBF standard on their line and are pleased to also now offer a high performance barrier filter solution for the MD 900/902 twin-engine helicopter as well. AFS has a strong history of OEM partnering, and product is also available as a factory option for Bell Helicopters and AgustaWestland."

MD Helicopters' MD500 is one of the most popular helicopters worldwide for commercial and military customers alike. Applications include aerial law enforcement, helicopter tours, seismic/utility work and a myriad of other flight profiles. The AFS IBF provides MD500 operators maximum engine protection while improving aircraft performance.

Director of Business Development Robert Stenberg stated that following recent FAA certification, AFS anticipates EASA certification of the MD 900/902 IBF shortly.
