Flightoberfest Postponed for Incoming Storm

Event Pushed Back to Saturday, November 16

With Hurricane Milton coming in strong, the Aerospace Center for Excellence and Sun 'n Fun have made the decision to postpone their Flightoberfest event. This was originally planned for October 12 and has now been pushed to November 16.

This announcement was made in an emailed statement from the event’s hosts.

“Our primary concern is the safety of our staff and guests,” the statement read. “All tickets for Flightoberfest already purchased will be honored on the new date. We hope you and your family stay safe during this storm.”

Flightoberfest is an outdoor fall festival featuring aircraft showcases, live music, food trucks, vendors, a kids zone, and seasonal brews. It is held at the Sun ‘n Fun Aerospace Expo campus near Florida’s Lakeland Linder International Airport (LAL).

The event kicks off after the annual 5k walk-and-run, titled ‘Pumpkin Dash.’ This begins at 9:00 am, with Flightoberfest running from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm.

Flightoberfest tickets start at $5 for adults and are free for kids under 12. Guests may drive in or fly in, and have the option to camp on-site.

“All day family fun abounds for our first annual Flightoberfest. Join us early for our second annual Pumpkin 5K Dash and stay with us late to enjoy great food and entertainment,” shared Gene Conrad, president and CEO of Aerospace Center for Excellence. “All proceeds from this event go back into our year-round educational programming at the Aerospace Center for Excellence!”

The Aerospace Center for Excellence's mission is to “Engage, Educate, and Accelerate the Next Generation of Aerospace Professionals.”

Hurricane Milton is pushing toward Florida’s West coast as a Category 5 storm with winds up to 180 mph. It is expected to produce surges up to 15 feet in the Tampa Bay area and pass just south of Lakeland sometime on Thursday, October 9.
