Gulfstream Fleet Racks Up 700 City-Pair Speed Records

Latest Trip Marks Milestone On 50th Anniversary Of First Speed Record

Gulfstream Aerospace announced its fleet across all models has achieved 700 city-pair speed records with a G700 flight from Taipei to Miami of 7,740 nm / 14,334 km in 14 hours 38 minutes for an average cruise speed of Mach 0.87.

The record flight took place on April 1, the 50th anniversary of Gulfstream’s first National Aeronautic Association (NAA) accredited speed record set in 1975 by a Gulfstream GII on a flight from St. John’s, Antigua, to Dakar, Senegal.

Mark Burns, President of Gulfstream said, “The last 50 years have showcased remarkable innovation and advancements in the Gulfstream fleet as we continue to raise the bar in business aviation for speed, efficiency, range and cabin comfort.

He added, “Gulfstream has a long tradition of introducing new technologies and capabilities with each new aircraft generation, and the G700 is no exception with its next-generation flight deck technology and combination of speed, range and cabin size. This latest accomplishment once again proves, in real-time demonstration, that our aircraft give customers the advantage of traveling farther faster than any other aircraft in the industry.”

The G700 model has eclipsed 80 city-pair speed records in just one year of service. This represents a rate faster than that of the Gulfstream G650 and G650ER, which contribute more than 130 speed records to the fleet.

Gulfstream attributes the G700’s performance numbers to its advanced aerodynamics, Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines, and the high-speed winglet introduced on the G700. The aircraft is equipped with the Predictive Landing Performance System and dual head-up displays featuring the company’s new Combined Vision System that combines the Enhanced Flight Vision System and Synthetic Vision System into a single image.
