SkyWatch Tailors New Insurance Policy For Senior Aviators

Offers Liability-Only Coverage Option for Those 70 and Up

SkyWatch recently opened a new insurance policy aimed to keep flying practical and affordable for senior pilots.

It presents a liability-only coverage option custom-fit to the needs of aviators aged 70-years-young and up.

This product follows SkyWatch’s discussions with industry sources. They worked with them to spot obstacles faced by the senior pilot community, specifically regarding obtaining the necessary insurance coverage.

“We are committed to supporting pilots at every stage of their flying journey,” said Tomer Kashi, CEO of SkyWatch. “This new plan reflects our dedication to the entire aviation community.”

While several providers do not refuse to insure senior pilots, the pricing is frequently blown far beyond normal rates. This falls under the false assumption that older aviators are no longer proficient or safe. A study in 2021 on over 30,000 pilots and aircraft owners, confirming that pilots 70-and-up were no more likely to be involved in an accident in the past five years than younger aviators.

SkyWatch’s new senior-focused policy provides instant quotes and several coverage options, allowing pilots the choice to drop hull insurance. This permits a significant cost cut while still protecting the aircraft operator for third-party liability. It is available through the SkyWatch website.
